一、基本情況
西班牙的綜合性大學有公立大學與私立大學兩種。目前有公立、私立大學共77所。
博洛尼亞改革前，西班牙的學制分為三個階段：
1、第一階段教育(短期階段，即大專階段，三年學制，拿到的學位為Diplomatura)。大專畢業(yè)生可以繼續(xù)進行同類學科第二階段教育的學業(yè)，也可以直接或通過進修其他補充課程間接進入大學本科課程的第二階段學業(yè)。
2、第一、二階段教育(長期階段，即完整的大學本科階段，五年學制)。此種學業(yè)分為兩個階段，但通過第一階段后并不頒發(fā)任何文憑，也不意味著完成完整的學業(yè)或具備專門的職業(yè)資格。只有完成全部兩個階段的學業(yè)，學生才可按所學學科獲得相應(yīng)的學士學位(Licenciatura)。
3、僅第二階段教育(即僅為大學本科后兩年階段)。此種學業(yè)為期2年，完成后可獲得相應(yīng)的學士學位(Licenciatura)。大專或大學本科已完成第一階段學業(yè)的學生，可以直接或通過進修其他補充課程間接進入該階段學業(yè)。
4、第三階段教育(即博士學業(yè))。獲得學士學位的學生可進入本階段學習。學生在完成相應(yīng)的博士學位學習項目并并通過博士論文后，可獲得相應(yīng)學術(shù)領(lǐng)域的博士學位(Doctor)。
博洛尼亞改革后，根據(jù)2007年10月20日頒發(fā)的1393/2007號政令，西班牙大學開始實行歐洲通行的3-5-8學制。
5、第一階段教育，四年學制，需要完成240個ECTS學分，獲得相應(yīng)學科的學士學位證書(Grado)。
6、第二階段教育，一或二年學制，分別完成60或120個ECTS學分，獲得相應(yīng)學科的碩士學位證書(Máster)。
7、第三階段教育，獲得碩士學位的學生可進入本階段學習。學生在完成相應(yīng)的博士學位學習項目并并通過博士論文后，可獲得相應(yīng)學術(shù)領(lǐng)域的博士學位(Doctor)。
